Richard Brito, a researcher at CENTRA, receives a research grant through the ERC-Portugal Program from the Fundação de Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT).
The project “Opportunities in the Gravitational Sky: Searching for New Fundamental Fields with Black Holes and Gravitational Waves” (GravNewFields) led by Richard Brito, has been awarded funding through FCT's ERC-Portugal Program. The project will focus on exploring new methods to detect fundamental fields using observations of black holes and gravitational waves. The primary objective will be to conduct a comprehensive study of signatures indicating the presence of new fields around black holes and to develop robust tools for identifying these signatures in upcoming observations.
The ERC-Portugal Program, established by FCT, supports researchers based in Portuguese research centers who have applied for an European Research Council (ERC) Grant. It specifically assists those who achieved a grade of A in the second evaluation round but did not receive funding. This program enables researchers to start their proposed projects and aims to enhance their prospects in future ERC grant applications.
