CENTRA postdoc Alex Vano-Vinuales has briefly visited the TPI at the Friedrich-Schiller University in Jena (Germany). Apart from exhaustively visiting the lovely Christmas markets in the area, he has given a seminar on current work on the hyperboloidal initial value problem led and performed by GRIT members working on numerical relativity. This method aims to improve the accuracy of the waveforms created numerically and is expected to make current simulations much more efficient. There are close ties between the Jena and GRIT groups, and both of them have had considerable input in the novel hypeboloidal techniques being developed, which made it a very fruitful interaction.
