Rodrigo Vicente just defended his PhD thesis on "The gravity of classical fields", supervised by Vitor Cardoso and Carlos Herdeiro. The thesis studied compact objects and new fundamental fields, in a variety of subjects. One of the landmark calculations is the dynamical friction acting on bodies moving on scalar environments, or the energy loss by compact binaries evolving within scalar structures. The other is the eccentricity evolution of binaries under the emission of dipolar radiation and of dynamical friction. The PhD jury was composed of Richard Brito, Katy Clough, Lam Hui, Caio Macedo, José Lemos and José Natário. The thesis was awarded a "Distinction with Honours". Rodrigo is now moving to Barcelona, to the group of Prof. Diego Blas. Congratulations Rodrigo!
