Vitor Cardoso was awarded the "Medal of Merit" by his hometown Argivai, in recognition of his scientific achievements. The honour was made to coincide with the celebrations of Argivai, marking the 1000+ years of this village, which was also the birth place of Póvoa de Varzim.
