Richard Brito was just nominated for the Prof. Abreu Faro Prize. Richard Brito completed his PhD thesis at CENTRA in 2016, under the supervision of Vitor Cardoso and Paolo Pani, and is now a postdoc at the AEI in Germany. Every two years, the “Prof. Abreu Faro” prize awards the best PhD thesis completed at Instituto Superior Técnico in the subjects of electronics, computer science, physics and mathematics.
The Prof. Abreu Faro Prize was established at IST under the proposal of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and with the support of the Departments of Computer Science, Physics and Mathematics, with the aim of honouring the life of Prof. Manuel Abreu Faro, a former professor at IST who contributed significantly to the development of science in Portugal.
It is a very competitive and tough selection process, since the pool of candidates consists on those who had Honours for the PhD thesis. The second edition of the prize is supported by ANACOM and the award ceremony will take place on May 23rd at 16:30 in the Anfiteatrum of the Complexo Interdisciplinar.
