How does a binary "stir" its dark matter environment? How does this process, together with gravitational-wave emission, affect the inspiralling of the binary? How does a black hole travelling through a dark matter structure slow down and relax? These questions, important for gravitational-wave physics and astronomy and for astrophysics, are addressed and solved in the most recent paper by Lorenzo Annulli, Vitor Cardoso and Rodrigo Vicente. The response of ultralight dark matter to supermassive black holes and binaries was just published in Physical Review D.
