Baryons in the effective field theory of cosmological large scale structures

Dec. 10 - 14:30 - 2019

Speaker: Diogo Bragança (Stanford University)

Title: Baryons in the effective field theory of cosmological large scale structures

Abstract:
The new large scale structure surveys, like the Dark Energy Survey (DES) and EUCLID, will generate enormous amounts of cosmological data. To extract information from that data, we need a very precise theory for the evolution of perturbations at cosmological scales. After many theoretical efforts, the effective field theory of large scale structure (EFTofLSS) has already proven to be the correct description, having been very recently fitted to real data from BOSS for the very first time. Until now, the description has only considered the evolution of a single cold dark matter (CDM) fluid. In this talk, we are going to see that the insertion of baryons in the theory has some interesting effects and may improve to accuracy of the theory.
