Master equations and stability of Einstein-Maxwell-scalar black holes

Sep. 11 - 11:00 - 2019

Speaker: Aron Jansen (ICC University of Barcelona)

Title: Master equations and stability of Einstein-Maxwell-scalar black holes

Abstract:

I will derive master equations for a general class of Einstein-Maxwell-scalar theories, in any dimension and with any maximally symmetric horizon topology. The equations we obtain are a generalisation of the classic Kodama-Ishibashi master equations, though the approach we take in deriving them is slightly different and simpler to follow. One can perform so called S-deformations on the resulting potentials in these master equations to prove stability, which we will do for certain cases. If time allows I can also demonstrate how to numerically compute the quasinormal modes from these equations using my publicly available package QNMspectral.
