Dynamic spacetimes in Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory and cosmic censorship

Dec. 15 - 14:30 - 2016

Speaker: Jorge Rocha (Barcelona)

Abstract:
Stationary black holes in low energy string theory have been investigated for decades but little is known about their non-stationary counterparts. I will discuss spherically symmetric, but time-dependent, solutions of the Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton field equations. A constructive derivation of a family of exact time-dependent solutions to the unsourced (vacuum) field equations will be presented and its causal structure is clarified. The solutions are part of a larger class of dynamical spacetimes supported by null dust. These can be used to describe analytically the accretion (or radiation) of matter onto black holes and thus provide valuable avenues to address cosmic censorship.
