Observational constraints on nucleosynthesis in AGB stars (Carlos Abia)

Jun. 02 - 17:00 - 2010

Speaker:

Carlos Abia
Departamento de Física Teórica y del Cosmos. Universidad de Granada.

Abstract:

The Asymptotic Giant Branch stars, in particular those of carbon types,
are excellent laboratories to constraint the theory of structure,
evolution and nucleosynthesis of low mass stars. Despite the uncertainties
still existing in the chemical analysis of these stars,
the determination of the abundances of several key speciesin their
atmospheres (lithium, carbon, fluorine and s-elements etc..) is an useful
tool to test these theories and the mixing processes occurring inside
these stars. I will briefly review recent advances on this subject.

Place and time:

Physics Depertment meetign room, 2nd floor

2 June 2010, 11:00
