Title: Casimir and Hawking meet at the lab
Abstract: In this talk I will discuss how a free field in a cavity with moving boundaries can be used to theoretically and experimentally study Hawking radiation. Concretely, I will show that i) a finite period of acceleration of one of the mirrors mimics a black to white hole dynamical geometry, ii) the end state of the field shows thermal properties determined by the acceleration of the trajectory of the mirror, iii) this setting can, in principle, be implemented experimentally with current technology.
