Outstanding Referees: Cardoso and Pani

Dec. 02, 2014

Vitor Cardoso and Paolo Pani were distinguished with the "Outstanding Referee" award from American Physical Society.

The American Physical Society expresses its appreciation for the essential work that anonymous peer reviewers do for its journals, by having an annual program to recognize a small percentage of its 52,000 active referees each year as Outstanding Referees. The Outstanding Referee program was initiated in 2008. The reports and advice of these Outstanding Referees helps in the advance and diffusion of the knowledge of physics, while creating a resource that is invaluable to authors, researchers, students and readers. The American Physical Society states that it could never have done this without the generous and wise contributions of these superb referees.

Vitor Cardoso is an assistant professor of physics in CENTRA, Visiting Fellow in Perimeter Institute and holds a prestigious grant from the European Research Council. Paolo Pani is an FCT Researcher and was previously a Marie Curie Fellow at CENTRA and Harvard.

CENTRA has now 4 outstanding referees in the country: José Sande Lemos (2010), Robertus Potting (2012), Paolo Pani (2014), and Vitor Cardoso (2014). It represents more than half of the total in physics in the country.
