Covariant Formulation of Teleparallel and f(T) Gravity Theories

May. 04 - 11:00 - 2016

SPEAKER: Martin Krssak (IFT, São Paulo)

ABSTRACT: Teleparallel gravity is a well-known alternative approach to general relativity and construct modified gravity theories. However, it was known to suffer from the problem of violating the local Lorentz invariance, which was particularly sever in the modified case. In this talk, I will present a solution to this problem, which is based on a slight generalization of the concept of teleparallelism that leads to an introduction of a non-trivial spin connection. I will show that such a properly defined teleparallel gravity is a far superior starting point to construct modified gravity models.
