High energy scattering in QCD and gluon saturation

Mar. 03 - 14:30 - 2016

SPEAKER: Tolga Altinoluk (CENTRA)

ABSTRACT: The study of QCD under extreme conditions has been one of the most challenging problems in physics. It is currently under active experimental investigation at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) at BNL in the USA, and at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. In this talk, we give a brief overview of the status of our understanding of QCD at high energies where hadrons exhibit perturbative saturation. We discuss the saturation phenomena at the level of the evolution equations and observables such as single inclusive particle production. This observable will be discussed both at leading and next-to-leading order beyond eikonal accuracy.
