The collision of black hole binaries is one of the most energetic events in the universe, and results in a powerful release of gravitational radiation. Such events are a promising source for the
current and future generations of gravitational wave detectors (LIGO, Virgo, LISA).  Accurate models of the merger process, and associated gravitational wave signature, are required both for detection and for
estimating the physical parameters of the sources.  In this talk, I will describe recent developments in numerical modeling of black hole binaries, allowing for unprecedented accuracy in determining the
gravitational wave signature. By sampling the parameter space of binary models, we are able to characterize the black hole merger process, as well as identify the gravitational wave signatures of the interacting bodies.
