Travel information and Accommodation (updated 22 April 2009)

We expect that most of the participants will stay for a week (Friday to Friday – with Tap). Flight connection from Europe (Lisbon) also exists on Saturday with STP Airways, so it is possible to arrive at 05:00a.m on Saturday 05th, and the price is the same with both airlines.
We negotiated a special travel and accommodation package with Culturália, a specialized travel agency for this part of the world.
This package comprises:

    The reference prices for person / for the packages are the following:
    - 1.450,00€ (single-room)
    - 1.350,00€ (double-room)
    - 1.250,00€ (triple-room)

    Please note that you should register as soon as possible as these prices are only guaranteed for a limited number of participants and early registration (current travel proposal).    

    Dead-line for inscriptions
    - Until 30th May – reservation guarenteed.
    - After 30th May confirmation of the booking is subject of availability and prices chan    ges.

    Payment policies:
    Reservations are confirmed with the payment of 25% of the total
    The rest of the payment must be made 30 days before departu    re.

    Cancellations policies:
    Until 90 days of departure – 50,00€ (dossier expenses)
    Between 90 and 60 days – 25% of the total
    Between 60 and 30 days – 50% of the total
    Less of 30 days – 100% of the total
    It is possible to change names until 30 days before the departure, paying a fee of 50,0    0€

    Health

    São Tomé and Príncipe is an equatorial country, malaria prevention (prophylaxis) and yellow fever vaccination is highly recommended (but not mandatory since 01st April 2009). Notice that Malaria prevention needs to start before you travel.

    Water abounds in the country, however we advise consumption of bottled water. We recommend boiling the water obtained from natural sources.

     

    Visas

    Visas can be obtained from Consulates or Embassies in countries where São Tomé e Príncipe has diplomatic representation (Lisboa, Porto, Coimbra and Ponta Delgada).
    Visas can be processed by Culturália: the cost is €59.
    The maximum stay is 30 days.

    Travel documents information:
    All passengers, including children and infants, must possess an identification document with photo:
    - Passport with minimum validity of 6 months from the date of return and visa
    - In the countries of the European Union: Identity Card
    - Outside the European Union: Adults - Passport | Minor - Passport + ID card (to prove membership) (Passengers living in the Azores and Madeira also need the card Contributor)
    Minors who travel alone or accompanied only by a parent, are subject to special legislation, requiring a declaration recognized by notary. Please consult us.
    Foreign nationals must have the necessary documents (passport, visa, residence permit, etc.), to travel or transit within and outside the European Union countries.

    Other information:
    - No ATM boxes, money only on the bank. The exchange can be done through contacts in the hotel.
    - There are several restaurants with quality and variety of food (mainly fish dishes; prices 6 € -15 €).
    - Possibility of renting a car for greater autonomy during the stay, with or without drivers.
